How can AI help you prepare for a deposition?

Short answer

Find the witness’s documents in Nuix Discover, then have Claira read them: dated facts attributed to the witness, a chronology with its sources, and a check of what the documents say about a specific claim.

Preparing to examine a witness means knowing what the documents show that person did, said and knew, and when. In Nuix Discover you find the witness’s documents with your own searches. Claira then reads the set you select and writes what it finds into your Discover fields.

The fact extraction workflow pulls dated actions and statements attributed to a named person, under the aliases you list, which gives you a factual profile of the witness to build an outline from. The chronology workflow writes a dated sentence about each document: what happened, who was involved and when. From those results, an Insight merges events that several documents describe into one timeline with its sources, lists the gaps and flags documents that disagree on a date.

When the witness has already given a statement or testimony, the fact confirmation workflow checks whether a document mentions a specific fact and returns the supporting excerpts. Recorded interviews, hearings and earlier depositions can be scanned as audio or video, within the limits in the media scans guide.

The outline, and the judgment about what to ask, stay with the lawyer. Results depend on the instructions and on the text Claira can read, so test them on documents you know and check the entries you plan to put to the witness.
