Claira Stories
Claira is now available in Germany & Europe

Claira, the AI-powered document review platform purpose-built for legal professionals, is now available in Germany. The launch is backed by a dedicated German deployment region, so document content stays in the country from the moment it is sent for review to the moment the result is written back into the case.
German law firms, in-house legal departments, investigation teams and public sector bodies working in Nuix Neo Discover can now use Claira to write review criteria in plain language, test them on individual documents, and scale them across an entire population without exporting evidence to a separate platform.
Residency first, then availability
In most markets, the question legal teams ask about AI review is what it can do. In Germany, the first question is almost always where the data goes. That question is not a formality. Processing location is a live consideration under the GDPR and the Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, and for many mandates it is written into the engagement terms before the matter starts.
Claira was built with that constraint in mind rather than around it. Each region operates independently, with no cross-region replication and no cross-region egress of customer content. Adding Germany was not a matter of opening a sales channel and routing the traffic elsewhere. It meant standing up a full region so that German matters are processed in Germany, on the same architecture already running in Canada and Australia.
"We were not willing to enter Germany with a compliance story that depended on a data transfer agreement. Teams here are right to ask where their evidence is processed, and the only answer worth giving is a technical one. Documents from a German case go to a German region, they are reasoned over there, and the result comes back to Nuix. There is no second copy and no international hop to explain to a client or a regulator."
- Lucas Fraser, CTO
What the German region means in practice
The German region is hosted in Frankfurt. Document text, and for a media scan the source file, is sent to model endpoints pinned to that region, the response comes back, and the response is written directly into the Nuix Neo Discover field the reviewer selected.
Customer content is processed per request and is not used to train Claira-owned models. What persists on the Claira side is operational metadata - scan records, billing state, and case-scoped configuration - which is what makes the audit trail possible. Media scan staging, where it is used, is encrypted, access controlled, and deleted after processing. Traffic between clients, Claira services and model providers is encrypted in transit.
The practical consequence for a German matter is that evidence does not acquire a second home. It stays in Nuix Neo Discover, where the custody record already accounts for it, and the AI layer leaves a trail rather than a gap.
AI review inside Nuix Neo Discover
Claira runs as a user interface extension inside Nuix Neo Discover. There is no platform change, no parallel environment, and no data migration to plan. Reviewers open the case they already work in, and the Claira pane appears beside the document list.
A reviewer writes a prompt in natural language, tests it against single documents until it behaves, then runs it across thousands of documents with Bulk Scan. Results populate into the connected Nuix Neo Discover field while the run is still in progress, so review of the output can begin before the run finishes. Every result carries the model's reasoning, which is what makes the output defensible rather than merely fast.
Claira supports early case assessment, investigations, regulatory responses, litigation and arbitration, internal reviews, privilege screening, and the identification and redaction of personally identifiable information. Capable of analysing thousands of documents per hour, it lets legal teams find the material that decides a matter earlier, and spend their judgment where it counts.
