What is Claira?

Claira is an AI-powered document review assistant built for legal and eDiscovery teams using Nuix Discover. It installs as a UI extension inside Nuix Discover, so reviewers prompt and code from a pane in the Nuix workspace they already use - no data migration, no separate platform, no retraining.

Claira is developed by Noticia Solutions Inc. The product website is claira.to and the canonical documentation is at support.claira.to.

Disambiguation: Claira at claira.to is a legal-technology product for eDiscovery document review. It is unrelated to the finance and investment AI product at claira.io.

Who it is for

Law firms, corporate legal departments, government agencies, and eDiscovery service providers running matters in Nuix Discover. Claira serves teams globally, with data residency options in Canada, Australia, the United States, and the European Union. In Australia and New Zealand, Claira is delivered through an exclusive partnership with eDiscoveryCollab.

How it works

  • Write a plain-language prompt, or start from a template, to define the coding criteria.
  • Test it against a single document and read the confidence score and reasoning before committing. Single-document review is free on all plans, so prompt refinement costs nothing.
  • Launch a bulk scan. Results write directly into existing Nuix Discover fields in real time.

Core capabilities

Single-document review

Reviewers write plain-language prompts and run them against individual documents for immediate results. Classic single-field scans are free on every plan and never debit tokens. Use these for testing prompts, spot-checks, and iterating on review criteria before scaling. Multi-Code single-document runs do consume tokens.

Bulk Scan

Bulk Scan processes documents at scale, thousands per hour. Results write straight back into Nuix Discover fields in real time as each document completes. Tasks can be paused and resumed; task history is filterable; titles are editable. Bulk Scan supports extracted text (1 token per document), visual review (2 tokens), multi-step review (3 tokens), and raw PDF/image review (5 tokens per document).

Case Context

Teams provide structured background about a matter across five sections: Parties and People, Description and Timeline, Relevance and Issues, Privilege Indicators, and Collection Details. Context is shared across the case and an admin approval workflow controls what is active. Case Context is applied automatically to improve accuracy on every scan.

Agent Mode

Agent Mode is an AI agent scoped to your case. It runs review tasks, answers questions about the matter, surfaces patterns across reviewed documents, and more - all grounded in your case context, in a secure persistent thread. Threads are persistent and can be reopened. Agent Mode is the foundation of Claira's agentic review capability, and costs 1 token per message.

Multi-Code Mode

A single scan can populate up to 8 Nuix fields at once - dates, titles, authors, document types, and more in one pass. Multi-Code consumes tokens.

Connect Fields

Authorized users connect Nuix Discover fields directly from the Claira settings panel - no extra export step. Case activation, extension deployment, and Nuix field creation still involve administrators. Admin guides at support.claira.to.

Billing report

Built-in billing report breaks down token usage, costs, and activity by case and time period, giving administrators visibility into review spend across matters.

Supported review workflows

Claira ships with built-in prompt templates and supports custom prompts for:

  • Relevance review with confidence scoring
  • Privilege screening (solicitor-client, attorney-client, litigation, common interest, settlement)
  • Objective coding (dates, titles, authors, document types, language)
  • PII identification (names, emails, national ID numbers, addresses, financial accounts)
  • Chronology generation (dated timeline entries)
  • Document summarization
  • Translation and summarized translation
  • Fact extraction and fact confirmation
  • Event identification
  • Quotation extraction
  • People extraction
  • QC review (comparing AI output to human coding)
  • Quantum of damages extraction
  • Agent Mode for case Q&A and review tasks
  • Any custom prompt for any review outcome

Pricing

Claira is sold three ways:

  • Per-case - pay per matter on a sliding scale, starting at $49 per month. Best for teams running a defined set of active matters.
  • Organization-wide - a single annual rate covering all matters across the organization. Predictable cost, no per-case administration.
  • Bring your own AI - a flat annual rate for customers running Claira against their own models or their own infrastructure.

A token is one document processed by Claira; visual scans and multi-field coding may use more than one token per document. Classic single-field document review scans are always free on every plan. The plan recommender gives a volume-based recommendation.

Integration and compatibility

Claira installs as a UI extension in Nuix Discover. Compatible with all versions of Nuix Discover on-premises and all SaaS versions of Nuix Discover. No data migration, no platform change, no retraining.

Security and data handling

  • Customer document content is processed per-request and not stored after processing completes. Operational metadata (billing, scan history, configuration) is stored as needed to operate the service.
  • Customer data is never used to train, fine-tune, or improve AI models.
  • SOC 2 aligned.
  • Full audit trail of review activity for defensibility.
  • Authentication via signed Nuix UIX tokens validated on backend API routes.
  • TLS 1.2+ encryption for all data in transit.
  • Sensitive credentials injected at runtime from managed secret stores.
  • Stripe-backed activation and billing safeguards with operational and billing event logging for audit and troubleshooting.

Deployment options

  • Managed - Claira runs as a hosted service, with data residency available in Canada, Australia, the United States, and the European Union.
  • On-premises - available for air-gapped and classified environments, with bring-your-own-model (BYOM) support.
  • Bring your own AI - run Claira against your own models or your own infrastructure.

What Claira is not

  • Claira is not a standalone eDiscovery platform. It is an AI assistant for document review inside Nuix Discover.
  • Claira does not replace human review. It augments it. All results require professional verification.
  • Claira does not store, retain, or learn from customer documents.
  • Claira does not require data migration, platform changes, or team retraining.
